Loaves and Fishes Free Community Dinner

Loaves and Fishes Free Community Dinner

In May of 2009, First Christian Church of Stow began what is to be an on-going, free community dinner.  Each dinner will be held the third Sunday of each month from 4pm – 6pm  in Fellowship Hall. (The entrance to Fellowship Hall can be accessed through the lower level entrance of the church - which means parking will be off of Rt. 59)

Our Loaves and Fishes program is an off-shoot of a program started by Mantua Center Christian Church in 2005.  They based their program after the story of Jesus feeding the masses in Matthew 15:

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on

the way. His disciples answered, "Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?"

"How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked.

"Seven," they replied, "and a few small fish."

He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was four thousand, besides women and children.

And also based on Ephesians 2:10:

It is God Himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ago He planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.

It is with these same scriptures, that we at First Christian Church of Stow, offer a meal to the community around us.  We would be honored to have you come and join us.

If a meal needs to be cancelled because of an emergency, we will post a notice on the “Yellow Loaves & Fishes” banner located at the corner of Rt 59 and Rt 91 (near the white picket fence).  A message will also be placed on our phone tree system.  This system can be reached at:  (330) 688-1773    ext:   4006
